Our goal, through naturopathic medicine, is to treat the whole person -- that means mind, body, and spirit; she also aims to heal the root causes of an illness -- not just stop the symptoms.

She may spend 1 to 2 hours examining you and ask questions about your health history, stress levels, and lifestyle habits; and if necessary order any lab tests or medical diagnostic tests.

Afterwards, she will typically discuss your personal health plan. Naturopathic medicine focuses on education and prevention, so she may give you diet, exercise and stress management tips. In addition to naturopathic treatments, she may perform acupuncture, manual therapy (touch, massage, pressure) to treat you and bring you to optimal health.

I learned that natural therapies can follow the same rigorous criteria of science and offer safety as well as efficacy. True medicine is the art of compassionately delivering the best of science to better the lives of others. Medicine is a constant adventure; there is always space to grow and discover more in the world of naturopathy.

I personally believe that Naturopathic Medicine was never and will never be an “alternative therapy”. Natural Medicine is the main medicine that we use on a daily basis to take care of our bodies. Though I truly support an integrative approach, I think that many would benefit from including Naturopathic Medicine as the first line of prevention and treatment!
